Single stage surgery for Hypospadias

In most instances, it is possible to get a forward directed flow at the very first and only surgery. However, if the glans penis is small or there is gross deficiency of ventral skin, further stages are necessary.

The best time for Hypospadias surgery is when the baby is in diapers. After surgery with a dripstent hidden in the nappy, the boy is happy. The other consideration is that the penis has to be of sufficient size for the paediatric urologist to judge and carry out the repair well. So practically,in our practice in Kerala, the best time has been between 6months and 1 & 1/2 years of age.
